Ceramics fair with leading regional & national ceramicists - on Sunday of the late August BH weekend, at Market Square, Southwell, Notts UK.
A big thank you to all the potters/ceramicists for A big thank you to all the potters/ceramicists for putting on such a fine display of their work yesterday for #CeramicsinSouthwell2026 in the Market Square in Southwell. Thank you as well to the musicians of the @southwellmusicfestival fringe event for their atmospheric performances: the Festival Wind Apprentices, Klezmer Tanz, Cantamus girls choir, Quintessential Wind Quintet & Early Doors Barber Shop quartet (and to the festival organisers/helpers). And of course a further thank you to all the visitors for coming along, admiring it all and even buying some pots! Then there was the Southwell Town Council for allowing us to use the space and the stalls; and I know Lesley Nason and Neil Morton had a long day ensuring all the potters were set up OK (and got packed up OK). This combination of contributions made for a splendid event. Actually can one also thank the weather? I often talk to inanimate objects these days so don't see why not! It certainly helped in bringing about a perfect day. Afraid my photos don't really do justice to it all (& I only got a usable sample of the first musical act) but at least I (Michael) can now take a breather from the social media and website work till next year. Alongside #ceramicsinsouthwell2026 on SUNDAY 30 AU Alongside #ceramicsinsouthwell2026 on SUNDAY 30 AUGUST, 10am to 4.30pm (Market Square, Southwell, Notts NG25 0FS) is the 'Music for Ceramics in Southwell' fringe event from the @southwellmusicfestival with the following performers: 10:30am Southwell Music Festival 'Wind Apprentices' - 5 younger players embarking on music careers (studying & working with ensembles & orchestras around the UK). Anya Cookson (flute), Lidia Moscoso (oboe), Peteris Eduards Kalnins (clarinet), Svetlana Nanda (bassoon), Arthur Conyers (horn). 11:30am Klezmer Tanz - East European Jewish music from a Nottingham-based line-up playing flute, clarinets, accordions, fiddles, vocals, brass & rhythm. 12:30pm Cantamus - members of this long established and noted girls choir that has won multiple international awards. 1:30pm Quintessential Wind Quintet - 5 amateur musicians (friends playing together for about 20 years) performing traditional wind quintet pieces + popular music arrangements. Emma Grishin (flute), Jacob Hunt (French horn), Mark Millington (oboe & standing in today for June Hartley), Paul Mitchell (bassoon), Moira Watkins (clarinet). 2:30pm Early Doors - a Barber Shop quartet (members of the Grand Central Chorus based in Nottingham). #CeramicsinSouthwell #ceramics #music #southwellmusicfestival
